As part of national and regional preparations to review progress in the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action thirty years after its adoption (Beijing +30) in 1995 at the Fourth World Conference on Women, ESCWA is partnering with the UN-Women Regional Office for Arab States and the League of Arab States to conduct a regional review based on national reviews.
In this context, ESCWA is preparing a comprehensive and participatory work programme, which includes a series of workshops, conferences and meetings with member States and stakeholders, to provide technical support to member States in preparing their national reports. These include:
- A regional workshop for representatives of national women machineries to discuss the guidance note for comprehensive national reviews of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action after 30 years;
- A consultative workshop with Arab parliamentarians on the regional review of Beijing +30;
- A consultative workshop with Arab civil society organizations (CSOs), including youth CSOs, to discuss progress towards gender equality and the implementation of the BPfA after 30 years;
- A consultative workshop with organizations for persons with disabilities and older persons to discuss progress towards gender equality and the implementation of the BPfA after 30 years;
- An expert group meeting to review and validate the Beijing +30 review report for the Arab region;
- A high-level regional conference on the Arab review of Beijing+30.
