ESCWA and the League of Arab States (LAS), in partnership with the Mohamed Bin Rashid School of Government, the Arab Federation for Digital Economy/ Council of Arab Economic Unity, the Telecom and Digital Government Regulatory Authority of the United Arab Emirates, and partners to the joint ESCWA-LAS project to producing, developing and implementing the Arab Digital Agenda, are organizing a consultative conference and expert meetings on the Arab Digital Agenda and the Arab International Digital Cooperation and Development Forum.
The meeting series includes:
- The fifth meeting of the Joint Technical Committee and Core Research and Technical Cooperation Mechanism on producing, developing and implementing the Arab Digital Agenda
- A consultative conference on the Arab Digital Agenda and the Arab International Digital Cooperation and Development Forum
- A special session with the Office of the United Nations Secretary-General’s Envoy on Technology
- The first preparatory meeting of the Arab International Digital Cooperation and Development Forum 2023, comprising the fourth Arab High-level Forum on the World Summit on the Information Society and 2030 Agenda and the seventh conference of the Arab Internet Governance Forum
This series of meetings concludes the consultations before the finalization of the Arab Digital Agenda. The Agenda's linkages to various related tracks, including the Digital Development Reviews track, the Digital Cooperation and Development Forum, and major global and regional processes, are being discussed. The final Agenda will then be submitted to the Arab Telecom and Information Technology Council of Ministers for approval in December 2022. The Agenda will be launched during the first quarter of 2023.
During the consultations, preparations for the second session of the Arab International Digital Cooperation and Development Forum, due to take place during the second half of 2023, are beginning.
