In preparation for the 28th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 28), ESCWA is organizing a dialogue on accelerating the transition to circular economy for climate resilience in the Arab region, in partnership with Konrad Adenauer Stiftung/REMENA and with the support of the Swedish Government.
The dialogue aims to analyse and map the policies and plans required for transitioning to a circular economy in the Arab region, identify challenges, and propose solutions to sustain and accelerate circular practices in key sectors. It serves as a platform for sharing knowledge and experiences among Arab countries, as well as for exploring strategies to ensure the ongoing success of the transition within the region.
The dialogue brings together government officials from ministries responsible for the environment, climate change, energy, water, industry, economy and sustainable resource management, in addition to representatives from financial institutions, private sector enterprises, civil society and non-governmental organizations.
