The Intersessional group of experts on disability (IGED) was established in 2006 with the aim of strengthening consultation and exchange of experiences among member states on disability issues and developments and promoting the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).
ESCWA is organizing this eighth session focusing on the following issues:
- Protection of persons with disabilities in times of war and crises
- Measuring the interlinkages between poverty and disability using the multidimensional poverty index assist tool developed by ESCWA
- Progress in achieving digital accessibility of persons with disability and the implementation of the Arab Digital Inclusion Platform
- Sharing updates on current activities between ESCWA and member states and discussion of the proposed action plan for 2024
