Under the title “Multiple languages, one message”, ESCWA marked International Translation Day on 30 September twice this year, given its major role in peacebuilding and bridging gaps through dialogue.
Translators, editors and other language professionals and the support team at the ESCWA Conference Management Section had a quick get-together on Translation Day and paid tribute to translators as custodians of a meaning and a message.
The celebration was resumed in a larger event that attracted colleagues from substantive clusters. It was a nice space to inform partners in content creation and dissemination about a mission that is meant to deliver one message in multiple languages. Participants got to try their hands in a short exercise to discover the mysteries of a profession that is a never-ending but rewarding challenge.
