To support a just energy transition, ESCWA, in collaboration with the Arab Industrial Development, Standardization and Mining Organization (AIDSMO), organized on 24 July a virtual expert group meeting on “Just Transitions for Critical Energy Transition Minerals in the Arab Region”.
Participants discussed policy papers and provided feedback recommendations on main areas of work in the region, prepared by the working group on Transforming the Extractive Industries for Sustainable Development, established by the United Nations Secretary General.
Participants included senior government directors, officials, advisors, representatives of Arab regional organizations and private entities, as well as academic experts.
