ESCWA is implementing the global project on “Inter-Regional Cooperation for the Implementation of the New Urban Agenda” in the Arab region in cooperation with the United Nations Human Settlements Program. Following an inclusive participatory approach, the project was directed towards the development of the region's first Voluntary Local Review (VLR).
The meeting launches the preparation process of the first VLR in the Arab region, which will be undertaken in Amman. It informs all relevant stakeholders on the processes of preparing the VLR, the activities involved, the expected outcomes and the time-frame for the launch of the report.
The methodology followed to develop the VLR is being discussed, as are the interlinkages identified between the VLR and the Voluntary National Review planned to be conducted and presented at the High-Level Political Forum in 2022.
