The ability of national and local governments to formulate urban development strategies and action plans is one of the most important pillars for the implementation of the New Urban Agenda (NUA) and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
On 10 January, ESCWA and UN-Habitat held a national webinar on the preparation of the Voluntary Local Review (VLR) of Amman, the first in the Arab region, under the leadership of the Greater Amman Municipality, in order to review the progress made in implementing the NUA and the SDGs related to cities.
The VLR, which aims to track and report the process of localizing the SDGs, is expected to be finalized and presented during the High-Level Political Forum 2022.
