This meeting on the role of reliable data on road crashes in developing and implementing evidence-based interventions for road safety in the Arab region will inform on:
- The political declaration of the High-Level Meeting on road safety held by the United Nations General Assembly on 30 June and 1 July 2022;
- ESCWA initiatives relating to the establishment of the Arab Integrated Road Safety Observatory (AIRSO), based on the concept note endorsed by the 22nd Session of the Committee on Transport and Logistics;
- A brief on the survey that will be conducted through the United Nations Road Safety Fund project in order to capture the status of road safety management and documentation and analysis of road crashes in the Arab region.
The meeting aims to encourage the remaining member States to name their respective focal points for the AIRSO project and assist AIRSO focal points and other road safety stakeholders in responding to the upcoming survey.
