The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals have set a strong impetus for us to increase and enhance our efforts to improve the road safety situation, especially at the national and regional levels. Following earlier efforts to galvanize increased action in the Arab region, we have the pleasure of inviting you to the Regional Workshop on Road Safety Management in Arab Countries, under the auspices of ESCWA and the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Road Safety, on 27 and 28 November 2018 during the margins of the 19th ESCWA Intergovernmental Meeting on Transport and Logistics, from 26 to 28 November 2018 in the UN House, Beirut, Lebanon.
The workshop, held in cooperation with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and the World Bank, addressed issues of road safety management in line with United Nations guidelines and international best practices.
The workshop gathered high-ranked officials from the Ministries of Transport and Ministries of Interior from Arab States, actively discussed the status of Road Safety Management and data in their countries, and agreed on actionable recommendations to improve road safety in the region.
