25 women and men from the Palestinian government attended a national workshop on open government and open data organized by ESCWA in collaboration with the Ministry for Telecommunication and Information Technology. Participants were members of the national open data steering committee and technical specialists working on implementing an open data strategy and platform for the State of Palestine.
The workshop focused on building the capacities of participants using the ESCWA framework for open government and included sessions on open data strategy, legal aspects of open data, participation strategies, open data platforms and the reuse of data. The proposed open data strategy for Palestine the States open data readiness were also discussed. The workshop aimed to explain open data and open government constructs in the context of Palestine, while providing case studies to demonstrate the opportunities such activities offers institutional development and inclusive sustainable development.
