The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) in partnership with the League of Arab States, UN-Women, and the Arab Institute for Women at the Lebanese American University, is organizing a high-level conference on “Women, Peace and Security: Measuring Progress and Addressing Gaps” on 7-8 November 2019 at the Landmark Hotel in Amman, Jordan.
This conference comes within the framework of partners’ efforts to improve the response of countries in the region to the Women Peace and Security Agenda, and to mark the 20th anniversary of UN Security Council Resolution 1325 (2000) on Women, Peace and Security, which provides an opportunity to examine progress achieved and to accelerate response to the Women Peace and Security Agenda in the upcoming phase, including through national action plans on WPS.
The conference will bring together decision makers and senior officials in charge of Women Peace and Security issues in the region, in addition to a number of civil society partners, experts and relevant stakeholders.
