ESCWA is organizing a workshop on disability research and academic writing, targeting a group of young researchers who participated in the conference on Transition towards independent living within the community for persons with disabilities by presenting abstracts of their researches. The aim of the workshop is to refine the skills of young researchers in the Arab region who wish to produce and publish further studies on the subject, in light of their central role in supporting the rights of persons with disabilities.
The workshop is part of the work of the Arab-EU Research Network on Disability founded in 2022 by ESCWA in cooperation with the Ministry of Inclusion and Social Wellbeing in the Republic of Malta, and the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The Network acts as an inter-regional platform for knowledge exchange and capacity building. It brings together academics, researchers and institutions from both Europe and the Arab region with the aim of promoting academic research as a driver for change, to achieve greater social inclusion for persons with disabilities.
