On World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, marked annually on 17 June, ESCWA, the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD) and United Nations Office of Information and Communications Technology (OICT) held a virtual event to announce the winners of the video challenge on “Restoring Degraded Land in the Arab Region” that was launched in March for young people aged between 15 and 30.
The event also featured a panel of experts who explored the potential actions needed to protect and restore the land in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as a discussion among youth on their role in restoring degraded land in the Arab Region.
