In March, ESCWA and the Statistical Centre for the Cooperation Council for the Arab Countries of the Gulf (GCC-Stat) organized a workshop on the statistical treatment of Islamic finance.
The workshop aimed to strengthen the capacities of national statistical offices and banks in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries through the transfer and exchange of knowledge, and by sharing the experiences of the GCC member States and their initiatives to adopt specific areas of improvement.
User guides were prepared for priority topics to help specialists in GCC countries implement the latest international recommendations on the statistical treatment of Islamic finance.
