As part of the project “Facilitating Arab regional and global integration through evidence-based policymaking toolkits”, ESCWA organized a national training workshop on trade simulation tools for the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The workshop, held from 29 to 31 October in Abu Dhabi, trained experts and policymakers from the Ministry of Economy and Trade and other ministries in the UAE on using the nationally tailored version of the Global Economywide Trade Simulator Interface (GETSI) in their analyses of trade policies.
Participants explored the economic impacts of the UAE Free Trade Agreements with Turkey and India, as well as US tariffs on Chinese imports. They also reviewed the steps needed to update and expand GETSI features to assess the carbon border adjustment mechanism (CBAM) and non-tariff measures (NTMs).
