Technical Cooperation between ESCWA and Morocco

ESCWA, represented by its Deputy Executive Secretary for Programme Support Khawla Mattar, signed on 16 March 2017 a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Moroccan Ministry of General Affairs and Governance, represented by Minister Mohamad Al-Wafa. The MoU aims to provide a framework for inter-institutional dialogue and cooperation on matters of common interest in the fields of sustainable development over the period 2017-2019.

The two parties agreed to develop and implement activities in seven key areas: achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development; trade agreements and cash transfers; water, energy, environment and food; social and demographic statistics; women’s issues; disability, social justice, and population; and information technology.

Both ESCWA and the Moroccan Ministry of General Affairs and Governance will review this technical cooperation framework and the agreed activities in the light of priorities to be presented by the Ministry of General Affairs and Governance in mid-2018.
