In an effort to design national policies and strategies that provide a dignified life for older persons and guarantee their right to live in a supportive environment, the National Council for Family Affairs in Jordan, in collaboration with ESCWA, today launched the National Jordanian Strategy for Older Persons (2025-2030), developed by the Council with technical support from ESCWA and in cooperation with the National Committee for Older Persons and other stakeholders.
The Strategy outlines objectives, goals, and actions within eight priority areas for older persons. These include social protection and income security, healthcare, social care, intergenerational relations and solidarity, prevention of violence, abuse, and neglect, a supportive environment, knowledge base, and coordination and partnerships.
Developed under the technical cooperation programme of ESCWA, the Strategy aims at assisting member States in establishing national policies to provide a dignified life for older persons. It aligns with the broader efforts exerted by Jordan to address the need of older persons and provide a legislative, social and economic environment that is safe and supportive for them.
