To identify progress, obstacles, and lessons learned in achieving gender equality and empowering women, ESCWA discussed in two workshops the preparation of the national reviews of Jordan and Lebanon on the progress achieved in the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action after 30 years.
The workshops focused on introducing the Beijing Declaration and its interconnection with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as well as on the mechanism for preparing the national reports. Additionally, they provided participants with knowledge materials and sources to assist them in collecting information and data.
Both workshops were organized within the framework of the programme developed by ESCWA in partnership with the UN Women Office for Arab States and the League of Arab States (LAS) with the aim to provide technical support to help Arab States prepare their national reviews as a preamble to the unified Arab region report.
