To support Arab States in preparing for the Bonn Climate Change Conference and the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 29), ESCWA organized in Kuwait the seventeenth regional training workshop on capacity development for climate change negotiations for the Arab countries.
At the workshop, held from 13 to 15 May, international and regional experts addressed key negotiation topics, including outcomes of the first global stocktake, operationalization of the loss and damage fund, the global goal on adaptation, climate finance, and other issues related to carbon markets, energy and mitigation.
The workshop also provided a platform for participants to share progress on the new and updated nationally determined contributions, net-zero commitments, and national adaptation plans.
