ESCWA Executive Secretary Rola Dashti urged all stakeholders in the Arab region to unite their efforts for a better recovery from COVID-19, at an International Monetary Fund (IMF) webinar held on September 29. She stressed that solidarity was essential for inclusive growth and sustainable development.
Webinar panelists exchanged views on a recent study by the IMF tackling the potential role of social spending in promoting inclusive growth and improving socioeconomic indicators. They also discussed means for countries to ensure sufficient and efficient social spending to reduce poverty and inequality post-COVID-19, and reach the SDGs.
