ESCWA provided technical support at a workshop on Arab Classification for Disability, organized by the League of Arab States and the Ministry of Social Development and Family in Qatar. The workshop on 27 and 28 June was held to better classify and assess disabilities so that impacted persons can become active members of society.
Participants prepared an Arab classification project for disability based on a comprehensive assessment, taking into account the context and the environment surrounding the person in addition to their medical background.
ESCWA developed visions for the services and programmes that persons with disabilities need, provided models and introduced steps to develop a national system for the assessment and classification of disability.
