Within the framework of the Regional Initiative to Promote Small–Scale Renewable Energy Applications in Rural Areas of the Arab Region (REGEND), ESCWA and the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in Jordan organized a capacity-building workshop on renewable energy and the water-energy-food nexus.
During the workshop on 24 May, students at the Jordanian-German Center of Excellence for Solar Energy learned how renewable energy could play a key role in rural development, in women’s empowerment, and in sustainable agriculture and food production.
In addition, the workshop aimed to increase green job opportunities and enhance cross-sector collaborations in rural areas.
