In preparation for the United Nations conference on the global midterm comprehensive review of the Water Action Decade to be held in March 2023, ESCWA and the League of Arab States (LAS) organized a regional preparatory meeting on 18 and 19 May in Beirut.
The meeting assessed regional progress towards the Water Action Decade objectives, and discussed related challenges, opportunities and ways to accelerate achievement. It was also an opportunity to present national and regional initiatives, and key actions that demonstrate Arab countries’ commitment to the international water goals.
The meeting outcomes will feed into the UN Secretary-General’s report for the midterm comprehensive review of the Water Action Decade.
