On 12 October, ESCWA organized a workshop in Amman to discuss the current situation of traffic safety in Jordan and particularly the existing regulatory and legislative framework for seat belts and child restraints.
Participants learned about the best practices inspired by the experiences of developed countries with high rates of seat belt use and child restraints to improve the present framework.
The workshop falls under a project on “Reducing Road Deaths and Injuries in Jordan through Increasing the Use of Safety Belts and Child Restraints”, implemented in partnership with the Ministries of Interior and Transport and a number of other public and private stakeholders, and funded by the United Nations Road Safety Fund.
