In Jordan, older persons are among the most vulnerable groups, facing the risks of poverty, disease, and isolation, a reality that was even further exacerbated by COVID-19.
To integrate the issues of these persons into the policymaking process in the kingdom, ESCWA, the Higher Population Council and the National Council for Family Affairs organized a workshop in Amman on 27 and 28 October for representatives of relevant government and non-government entities to hone their skills in developing policies that protect older persons from the pandemic ramifications.
The workshop falls under the Jordanian policymaking efforts namely the adoption of the National Strategy for Senior Citizens (2018-2022) which contributes to guaranteeing their rights in various fields.
