Over the past three decades, Iraq witnessed a series of major events, which impacted the social, health and economic conditions of its citizens. Studies and reports issued by Iraqi authorities have reflected the continuous increase of the already high rates of poverty, as nearly one-fifth of Iraqis still live below the poverty line.
On this backdrop, ESCWA, the Central Statistical Organization (CSO), the Kurdistan Region Statistics Office (KRSO), Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative )OPHI( at the University of Oxford, and UNICEF Iraq jointly launched the National Multidimensional Poverty Index and Child-Adjusted Multidimensional Poverty Index 2022 report.
The report provides indicators that can be used to revise and reformulate Iraq’s national poverty reduction strategy.
