To introduce the concept of multidimensional poverty and inequality in the Arab region, ESCWA, the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) and the League of Arab States (LAS), organized a regional workshop for public officials on the use of national multidimensional poverty indices (MPIs) for policy development and poverty reduction strategies.
The workshop, held from 28 to 30 November, provided hands-on experience in using the ESCWA Multidimensional Poverty Index Assist Tool.
Participants exchanged knowledge on best practices in using national MPIs as a tool for poverty reduction strategies, for informing social policies and national reform, and for monitoring and planning purposes.
