The Arab middle class plays a key role in economic and social development in the Arab region, particularly in economic transformation and political transitions.
In this context, ESCWA held an expert group meeting on 9 and 10 May to discuss the preliminary findings of a forthcoming report on this important social group.
The report pinpoints key features and growth challenges of the Arab middle class, and highlights the policy interventions needed to consolidate its role as a growth engine for development and social stability in the region.
