The digitization of a huge number of documents in libraries and information centres is proceeding at an unparalleled pace. This is extremely important for the world in general and for local communities in particular, due to the abundance of opportunities available to discover information through the Internet.
ESCWA, in partnership with the Lebanese Library Association and the International Federation for Library Associations, organized the 6th Conference of the Lebanese Library Association from 14 to 16 May. The conference showcased initiatives for digitization projects and the expertise of academic, public and specialized libraries dealing with digitization.
It also addressed emerging generative artificial intelligence tools and their capabilities in preserving cultural heritage.
