Given the role of voluntary local reviews in accelerating the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the New Urban Agenda, ESCWA, the UN-Habitat Regional Office for Arab States and UCLG MEWA launched the 1st voluntary local review (VLR) of Amman, during a workshop held in the Jordanian capital.
The workshop, held on 5 and 6 October, aimed to strengthen the capacities of local authorities in developing VLRs and review the phases of the report development process, shedding light on challenges, opportunities and lessons learnt.
The official launch of the review included a panel discussion on how to further strengthen the local-national policy development dialogue, and the way forward.
