ESCWA, the UNESCO office in Beirut and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre organized on 6 and 7 October a national capacity-building workshop to promote inclusive education. The event, held within the framework of a five-year plan for general and higher education in Lebanon, will pave the way for developing a national policy for inclusive education in the country.
Participants discussed how families and local communities can support the development of child protection policies, create an enabling environment for inclusive education and facilitate distance learning for children with special educational needs and disabilities.
Participants were also provided with the necessary tools and skills to improve the quality of education, and increase participation rates for learners with disabilities.
