On 16 September, ESCWA and the FAO Regional Office for Near East and North Africa, in collaboration with the Joint Technical Secretariat of the Joint Water-Agriculture Ministerial Council organized a virtual meeting to review the draft “Guidelines for Improved Water Allocation for Agriculture in the Arab Region”.
Discussions revolved around the importance of these guidelines, which aim to assist water and agriculture decision makers in Arab countries to sustainably manage their scarce water resources. They also discussed modalities and challenges that should be considered when applying these guidelines.
The draft will be presented in its revised form during the second meeting of the Joint Ministerial Council for Water and Agriculture that will be held virtually in October.
