Since the lack of reliable data and comparable statistics on persons with disabilities is the most critical obstacle in mainstreaming disability in development, ESCWA organized on 27 and 28 July a workshop on Improving Disability Statistics in Arab Countries.
The workshop aimed to develop the capacities of national statistical agencies to collect and publish accurate and comparable disability statistics from household censuses and surveys, and to enhance understanding of concepts, definitions and methodologies to produce consistent data in line with regional and international standards.
Participants exchanged good practices in producing disability statistics in the region and related challenges in data analysis.
