Within the framework of its activities on governance and institutional development in crisis contexts and conflict-affected countries, ESCWA organized in Amman on 1 and 2 December an experts’ meeting on the humanitarian-development-peace triple nexus approach.
The meeting explored concrete ways of operationalizing this approach in conflict and fragile settings in the Arab region, including in the least developed countries, and focused on reinforcing national institutions and governance systems while supporting them to move beyond humanitarian aid dependency towards sustainable development and peacebuilding.
Participants highlighted new ways of working in challenging contexts, particularly protracted conflicts and recurring crisis situations, to enhance institutional capacities and synergies among national actors.
