As part of international and regional cooperation, ESCWA held a consultative meeting with the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre in the United Arab Emirates on 7 and 8 October. It aimed at providing technical support for the development of the 2024 Household Income and Expenditure Survey.
Participants reviewed the challenges faced by the implementation of the current survey and proposed solutions to ensure the collection of reliable data. Discussions also focused on revising and developing the economic and social indicators used in the survey to ensure their comprehensiveness and alignment with international standards.
Additionally, participants explored alternative methods for conducting population censuses using modern technology, with the goal of unifying demographic data and providing an accurate and comprehensive picture of the country’s demographic distribution.
