On 19 June 2009, ESCWA Executive Secretary Bader AlDafa paid a visit to the President of the Lebanese Republic Michel Suleiman, to express the gratitude of the United Nations to the Lebanese government, for its consent to allocate land to the International Body to build a UN House, which accommodates agencies accredited to Lebanon. After the formulation of a new government, a joint task force can be established, grouping ESCWA and the related Government Ministries, to proceed with the preparations of plans and construction.
The visit was also an opportunity to congratulate the President on the success of the electoral process in Lebanon.
