Executive Secretary Meets Head of Union of Arab Banks

Executive Secretary Bader AlDafa held talks on 3 February 2009 with Head of the Union of Arab Banks Adnan Ahmed Youssef and discussed cooperation with UN-ESCWA within the framework of developmental programs and preparing studies and researches to exchange expertise.
 
AlDafa briefed Youssef about the programs and projects that UN-ESCWA offers to member countries, specifically those on development and energy, in addition to scientific researches and developing expertise of those concerned with development issues.
 
Youssef expressed the Union's appreciation to the developmental role underscored by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and stressed energy projects, as well as boosting expertise in dealing with crises. Youssef called for devising urgent plans to confront unemployment.
 
Youssef added that they will work with Arab and international parties, as well as Arab banks to facilitate credit and prepare programs in support of small and medium institutions, and to open up new investment opportunities that will help revive the economy in the Arab region.
