On 20 May, ESCWA participated in the UN regional commissions’ round table held on the sidelines of the WSIS Forum 2021.
Speakers from the five regional commissions shared initiatives to promote the use of digital technologies to mitigate the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic, in line with WSIS principles. These initiatives include the provision of research, standards and statistics that facilitate decision-making, capacity-building and technical cooperation.
ESCWA highlighted its longstanding digital cooperation efforts, including regional initiatives and platforms, which have pushed the digital cooperation and digital development agenda forward in the Arab region.
