To mark Older Persons Day, ESCWA and the Regional Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights organized on 3 October a virtual dialogue entitled “Older people in the Arab world: current reality and prospects for protection and empowerment”.
The dialogue focused on the international human rights frameworks for older persons, and on experiences within international human rights mechanisms.
Participants also discussed ways to advance the rights of older persons, especially older women considering the vital role they play in their families and communities, and the many challenges they face in society including poverty, disease, isolation, and discrimination.

ESCWA marks Older Persons Day
