ESCWA marked International Translation Day on 3 October with an event titled “Found in Translation”, celebrating a profession which bridges linguistic and cultural divides.
In parallel, Arabic reviser at ESCWA Mustafa Darghama was awarded the first prize for the Arabic segment of the Sixteenth St. Jerome Translation Contest, organized by the UN Office in Vienna.
International Translation Day is marked annually to pay tribute to the work of language professionals, which plays an important role in bringing nations together and in promoting development, world peace and security.
