During the Istanbul Competition Forum webinar held early in June, ESCWA stressed the importance of international cooperation in regulating trade across borders, and ensuring responsible production, fair competition and diverse global value chains.
Participants also focused on the importance of achieving Sustainable Development Goal 12, on responsible consumption and production, particularly in the context of COVID-19, which has led to closed borders, shortages in commodities and forced confinement, challenging the demand and supply balance.
The webinar was organized by the Turkish Competition Authority and formed part of activities implemented in cooperation between ESCWA, UNCTAD and OECD on improving competition and consumer protection.
