To discuss progress made on women related issues and recovery plans to build better from COVID-19, ESCWA organized on 16 and 17 November the 10th session of its Committee on Women with the participation of representatives of national women’s machineries and relevant governmental organizations.
ESCWA stressed that business-as-usual will not enable Arab countries to recover from the pandemic and that it is crucial to adopt new development models capable of addressing gender inequality and achieving social justice.
Meanwhile, participants praised the work of the Commission in advancing women’s social and economic situation and implementing international commitments in the framework of the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women, the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
