ESCWA Executive Secretary Visits The Sudan

ESCWA Executive Secretary Bader AlDafa today discussed cooperation between ESCWA and The Sudan, and the role the Regional Commission could play in ensuring technical assistance in several sectors such as transport, foreign trade, youth, and information and communication technology.

The Executive Secretary held a series of meetings this morning with the Minister of International Cooperation, Al Tagani Saleh Fadil, the Minister of Transport, Roads and Bridges, Philip Thon Leek, Minister of Foreign Trade, James Cook, and Undersecretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mitrif Siddig.

AlDafa had begun today an official visit to The Sudan, which joined ESCWA membership last year. AlDafa's visit extends until tomorrow Wednesday 1 July 2009.

AlDafa is expected to hold meetings tomorrow in the Ministries of Energy and Mining, Irrigation and Water Resources, Social Welfare, Gender and Child Affairs, and Finance and National Economy. He is also to meet the Heads of UN organizations and programs in Sudan.
