On the sidelines of COP27 in Egypt, ESCWA and UN-Habitat organized a side event titled “Climate Action and New Urban Agenda: SDGs localization and sustainable urban policy for resilience”.
ESCWA also contributed to a series of events organized during the conference, most notably an event on “The Socioeconomic Impacts of Energy Transition”, where ESCWA highlighted the importance of adopting an integrated approach to ensure gender equality within Arab rural communities, and achieve a just and inclusive energy transition.
Marking World Water Day at COP27, ESCWA presented the recent RICCAR climate projections and highlighted the importance of vulnerability assessments to improve sectoral policies.
