On the sidelines of the 27th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) in Sharm el-Sheikh, ESCWA Executive Secretary Rola Dashti participated in various high-level meetings and stressed that mainstreaming climate finance was not only a prerequisite for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, but also for ensuring sustainability for present and future generations.
Dashti also took part in other activities at COP27 - hosted by the Egyptian Government from 6 to 18 November - namely a high-level dialogue on addressing climate change through the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Food Security Response Program, and on scaling up adaptation finance in the region.
Furthermore, Dashti met with several member States senior representatives, and reaffirmed the commitment of ESCWA to helping Arab countries overcome challenges in the region.
