On 26 and 27 October, ESCWA and the Qatari Planning and Statistics Authority organized in Doha a workshop on “Enhancing Integrated National Development Planning in Qatar” to engage key stakeholders, directly or indirectly, in the process of development planning.

ESCWA presented its various development planning training portals and resources and shared ideas that would help consolidate the Sustainable Development Goals and link them to national plans. The tools developed by ESCWA aim to support and establish developed governance and national development planning to guide Arab countries and facilitate access to information.

Participants from ministries, government agencies, civil society organizations, the private sector, research centres, universities and international organizations discussed various successes and challenges in the national development planning, as well as public policies and regulatory reforms, namely in foreign direct investment. They also brainstormed on the actions needed for improvement.

The workshop falls within the framework of the activities of a project entitled "Towards the Arab Horizon 2030: Promoting Integrated National Development Planning in the Arab Region", and comes within the recommendations of the report "Arab Business Legislative Frameworks" prepared by ESCWA in 2021.
