On 2 and 3 September, ESCWA, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Syria and the Syrian Ministry of Social Affairs held a workshop in Damascus to present and discuss the community-based inclusive development (CBID) project document.

The relevant experts participating adopted the document as an implementation process of the new decree issued this year around the disability law, with the aim to include persons with disability in the local community’s activities. They also delved into the future steps to implement the national project.

The project document includes the plan and work process to be followed by the ministry and disability institutions, in coordination with everyone involved to allow CBID have an impact on the ground, in addition to the requirements and other technical and human resources needed.
