Within the framework of the Regional Initiative to Promote Small Scale Renewable Energy Applications in Rural Area of the Arab Region (REGEND), ESCWA organized on 11 July a capacity-building workshop for the rural community in Akkar Atika, Lebanon, on renewable energy, women empowerment, rural development and the water-energy-food nexus.
The workshop material was based on the REGEND online course, which sheds light on sustainable energy as an enabler for rural development, women empowerment, and sustainable agriculture and food production.
The workshop included an educational field tour on the solar energy system that was installed within the framework of REGEND.
