ESCWA is organizing a capacity-building workshop on renewable energy, women empowerment, rural development and the water-energy-food nexus, for vocational education students in Akkar Atika. The workshop is aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of participants, with a special emphasis on women. It also focuses on expanding opportunities in green jobs and strengthening synergies between the different economic sectors in rural areas.
ESCWA has implemented the “Regional Initiative for Promoting Small-Scale Renewable Energy Applications in Rural Areas of the Arab Region (REGEND)” project, funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida). As part of the project, ESCWA developed an online course to shed light on sustainable energy as an enabler for rural development, women empowerment, and sustainable agriculture and food production.
